Until next year…
It got a tiny bit windy the other day.
It’s October, which means–see the title of this post.
And here they are:
I’m so glad I live in a world where there are Octobers.
~Anne of Green Gables

.
A change of pronoun on the usual Anne of Green Gables October quote. I imagine it’s an Instagram story Diana would send to Anne.
I didn’t know what to title this post, so I called it literally what it is.
Most of the leaves are still green here, with bits of gold here and there. Well, it looks nice anyway, so enjoy:
It has become my custom to visit Heaton Park always on the penultimate Saturday in October and that’s where today’s pictures are from.
You can never quote any Anne of Green Gables quote too much, especially not the one about Octobers.
I haven’t got a favourite flower, I think they’re all great really. And it’s not like I even know flowers. I know roses and daisies and tulips and that’s about it. And asters.
Because the asters.
Also, it’s October! Over here the leaves haven’t turned yet but the weather’s been nice and sunny, what a miracle. It won’t last long I bet.
I try to walk home from work instead of taking the tram at least once a week. It’s a good exercise and of course, plenty of opportunity for some snappin’.
These were all from today:
When sunlight fell on the tree, the leaves looked truly golden, but by the time I took my camera out, the sun hid behind the cloud. It’s a shame but I still like the pic. It captures two of my favourite things: skies and autumn leaves.
Speaking of leaves…
Nothing more to add.
There were some other sights–this one looks a bit wild. Jungle inside the inner city maybe?
Lately I notice a have a liking for asters.
And last but not least, some berries. I have no idea what kind of berries they are or whether they’re poisonous (I’m rubbish at botany). They probably are. They also make me remember Hunger Games.
Let me end this post with another quote about this season.
There is no season when such pleasant and sunny spots may be lighted on, and produce so pleasant an effect on the feelings, as now in October.
– Nathaniel Hawthorne
You know what it is!
The coming of October reminds of this quote from LM Montgomery’s Anne of Green Gables:
I’m so glad I live in a world where there are Octobers. It would be terrible if we just skipped from September to November, wouldn’t it?
That it would, Anne. That it would.
I’ve read the Anne series umpteen times but it wasn’t until about three years ago when I got into photography and started to notice the world around me more that I finally understood Anne’s words. I love these colours.
This is the first new month since Some Photoblog started, so I am finally getting more than one item under the Archives heading.
Happy October everybody!
